Multi-Platform Attachment System

I've spent over 20 years building sheath systems for various members of the military and law enforcement communities as well as civilian customers. I've worked with the vast majority of attachment systems on the market, and there's a LOT of good stuff out there, but (and you knew there had to be one) they are all what you might call "specialty systems." Something meant for use on a belt doesn't work well (if at all) on a load bearing system or backpack and vice versa. My goal was to design something that could be used on ALL of those platforms. One military customer in particular inspired me to go one step further and try for something that would allow the user to move an item from a load bearing system (vest in their case) to a belt quickly and easily. It needed to be simple and it needed to work.

The Okuden M-PAS, is a single self locking shape which means there is no A or B side. If one gets misplaced or otherwise compromised, you need only replace that unit. Mounting holes are spaced at industry standard 1 1/2" on center. It works on MOLLE/PALS and slotted textile platforms as well as on belts from 1 1/4 - 2" wide and up to 1/4" thick with use of the belt sizing shims. It can also be "locked" in place with the provided safety clips or, if a field expedient option is needed, holes are provided for zip-ties, commo wire or 550 cord.

A set consists of 2 "bodies" (the M-PAS unit) and 2 each, belt shim and safety clip along with a hardware pack (2 Chicago Screw sets and 2 rubber spacers) for "hard mount" items.

Installation

One side of the M-PAS can be screwed to a wall (hard mount), woven into a pouch, vest, back pack etc. (soft mount), mounted on a "Kydex" product (hard mount) or worn on a belt (pictured with sizing shims on a 1.5" wide 1/4" thick leather belt).

Note the orientation of the halves. Because of the features on the sheath, the M-Pas has to be mounted "legs down". Therefore the belt mounted half must be inverted. Were you to move the knife to a vest, you would need an inverted side on the vest as well.

The sizing shims can be installed to ensure a higher or lower ride. In this case, they are on the sheath to ensure the lowest ride possible.

Hard Mount

Use any pair of holes from the GREEN or BLUE patterns.

Do NOT use the RED pattern. RED= STOP...BAD.  Don't do it!

Rubber spacers in the hardware pack go between the M-PAS and the hard surface. This will help the unit sit correctly and prevent warping due to the comfort radius.

For a more secure installation, we suggest the use of products such as Vibra-Tite, Lock-Tite (blue) or clear nail polish on threads.

Assembled

The pouch is now mounted to the board/wall in a combination hard (wall) soft (pouch) mount.

The knife is now on the belt

Safety Clips

This picture shows the safety clips (2) installed.

The M-PAS can be used with both, one or no safety clips. The user must consider the environment, platform and tasking when determining which configuration to use.

When properly used, the M-PAS is very secure. However, the customer assumes responsibility for correct use and therefore assumes all liability for any loss or damage resulting from its use.
